1/4teaspoonfresh ground pepper + additional to tasteI season
3cupsuncooked Homestyle Noodles wide egg noodles I have used extra wide noodles also.
7cups chicken broth or Better Than Bouillon Chicken BaseMix 7 cups of water mixed with 7 teaspoons of Better Than Bouillon Chicken Base if you decide to do this option.
Instructions
Add chicken breast to the slow cooker.
Next Add the chopped onion, carrots, thyme, salt, and pepper.
Add chicken broth or the Chicken base mixture.
Cover slow cooker with lid and cook on Low for 4-6 hours or High for 2-3 hours or until the chicken is cooked through and has reached an internal tempture of 165°F. Cooking time can vary.
Once the chicken is fully cooked remove it from the slow cooker. Place it in a bowl, and use two forks to shred the meat. Then, add it back to the crockpot.
The last step is to add the uncooked homestyle noodles and mix well. Cover with lid and cook for 10-15 minutes or until the noodles are al dente. Keep a close eye on them so you don't overcook them. You can also make your noodles on the stovetop and add them to the crockpot.
Notes
Storage
Store: If you have any leftover chicken noodle soup keep it in the refrigerator for up to 5 days in an airtight container.
Reheat: To warm your leftover soup, add it to a saucepan or in a microwave bowl. Since the noodles soak up the broth, you will most likely have to add more broth to the soup.
