I’m the Birthday Girl

I’m the birthday girl…again. It’s my 37th birthday today so let’s have some fun. I am going to tell you 37 things you may or may not know about me. If you are new here, this is a great way you can get to know me better. I did this a couple years a go and had so much fun. See the post here.

 

37 Fun Facts about Me

1. I was diagnosed with Type One diabetes 25 years ago today. Yes, being diagnosed with a disease on your birthday can be a little traumatizing to a child. Birthdays weren’t really the same after this.
2. I have been wearing an insulin pump for 13 years now. It has made managing my diabetes so much easier.
3. I met my husband only 3 years after being diagnosed. He has been with me almost as long as I have it. Crazy right?
4. Pink is still my favorite color. I like black too.
5. I am the type of person who thinks the little details matter. For example my daughter’s tea party birthday.
6. I planned my sisters wedding all the way down to every detail. I loved it!
7. I have been called a perfectionist by members of my family. This makes them crazy. lol
8. I have a shoe addiction. This also includes tennis shoes.
9. I workout 3-4 times a week.
10. I am a terrible housekeeper. I hate doing laundry.
11. I drink Apple Cider Vinegar with honey every morning before I have my coffee. You can read why here.
12. My family and I watch Full House daily. We own all 8 seasons.
13. My girls and I love watching House Hunters and Fixer Upper together. We snuggle up on the couch and watch one before bedtime.
14. I drink tea at night before bed. My current favorite is by Rishi Chamomile Medley Calming Blossoms. I tried it during one of our stays at the Four Seasons Hotel and fell in love. 
15. I am a night owl and not a morning person, Just ask my kids. lol
16. I recently had hair extensions put in my hair. To my surprise I love them! I love having long hair. You can read about it here.
17. I order most everything on Amazon Prime. It’s my BFF.
18. Carrot cake is my favorite dessert.
19. Wine is my choice of drink. lol
20. I research just about everything before I make a purchase.
21. My blog started out as an outlet for me and quickly turned into a business.
22. I have been on TV four times showing how to make easy recipes.
23. I love roller coasters. We went on vacation to Cedar Point this summer and it was the coolest place.
24. My idea of fun is being in my pajamas at home watching my favorite shows.
25. I love creating family memories with my kids. Last year I hosted a Halloween Dinner that was a blast! My kids are excited for this years.
26. Every year I host a back to school breakfast for my kids. I have been doing this since my son started Kindergarten.
27. After my son was born I suffered from postpartum depression for about three weeks. I had no idea at the time that’s what it was.
28. I recently gave up beef. I felt like I had a hard time digesting it, so I decide to stop.
29. I love seafood.
30. I was a cheerleader in Middle School and High School.
31. I met my husband in High School. We went to different schools. You can read our Love Story here.
32. I was in the Miss Missouri Teen pageant when I was 17. It was one of the most terrifying things I’ve ever done. Totally out of my comfort zone. I could barely speak into the microphone. But I did it. I faced a fear of mine (public speaking). I did win Third Runner up for Miss Photogenic.
33. I just recently learned I can still do a front handspring on the ground. If you follow me on my Insta Stories I know you saw it. 🙂
34. I am still a germaphobe.
35. I get told I look like Kristin Chenoweth a lot. I’ll take that compliment any day because I think she’s beautiful.
36. Christ is my rock. He is why I am here today. Without Him, I would be nothing.
37. I keep a prayer/gratitude journal. This has been such a great way for me to connect with Him.

I am grateful for another birthday and another year I have lived with diabetes. I give Him all the credit and praise. I could not do this alone.
